We voted today, The Boy and I.
Crutches and all.
I watched the debate last week.
Some felt it was meh, but I appreciated the enforced civility so the audience could hear what each was saying. It’s probably reflective of my Canadian-ness, but I was furious during the last debate I watched, in which everyone just kept talking over each other, and no one could be heard.
Debates are helpful.
I used an online tool that asked me questions to help me see which party platform I was most aligned with.
I liked that after it gave the results, it offered to “weight” them for me, meaning it asked me which issues I thought were most important and adjusted accordingly.
That was helpful too.
I searched out party platform comparisons, organized by issue, and read them. One here. One here.
Also helpful.
I looked up the candidates in my riding, their history and skills, as well as how our riding results have landed in past elections. Were they close? Or a landslide?
I considered my country.
My local community.
And made my choice. It’s not a perfect choice. None of them are.
But it’s MY choice. And my voice.
And given all that is happening in our world, I value that more than ever.
PS Afterwards, we went for a cappuccino and danoise bleuet (not shown because I’d already eaten it) at one of our favourite local cafés.
Crutches and all.
I ❤️ this SO. MUCH.
This process describes thorough, thoughtful, decision making to a T. No surprise, with Patti. Textbook worthy. Très bien.
