I mentioned recently that I’m listening to “The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family” by Ron Howard and his brother, Clint.
I’m almost halfway through now. Really enjoying it.
Thought I’d share that with my colleagues over lunch the other day. With the exception of one, they all gave me blank stares.
“Who?”
Me: “Ron Howard.”
Them: …
Me: “Richie Cunningham? Opie?”
Them: *shrugs*
Me: “The narrator voice on Arrested Development?”
Them: *side glances*
My Colleague: “Directed multiple films, like A Beautiful Mind, How the Grinch Stole Christmas? And all the other movies you’ve ever seen?”
Them: “wait, Ron Burgundy…?”
I look around at these people with whom I work, some of them under 30, some of them born and raised in a different country. I remember that I wanted to work with a staff team that reflected the diversity of our community.
So … mission accomplished, I guess.
But if, like me, you know right well who Ron Howard is, you might enjoy “The Boys”.
LOL this is me, at the lunch table, with a lot of the ‘kids’ who run the Program side of CityKidz. I love it. I love them, and working with them. Keeps me young.
