One of my own theories (I have several 😏) is that Pentecostals, perhaps in an attempt to seem respectable to other denominations, welcomed literature and teaching in our churches from other, different slices of Christianity. It’s good to learn from others, but not without filter, not without noting differences. At the same time, we didn’t bother teaching the equality that seemed so self-evident to us at the start. Then, decades later, we wondered why we were confused. 😖

Interesting. Tim Larsen has a piece in which he suggests that early ordination for women was seen as countercultural, but it grew out of favor as it began to be seen as capitulating to culture.
